1981: Daytona International Speedway in Florida gets on its way to host the 19th Annual Pepsi Challenge Daytona 24 hours in 1981. The 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida and served as the opening round of the IMSA GT Championship. The organisers received 98 entries. After 24 hours of racing time, the two Americans Bob Garretson and Bobby Rahal, as well as the Brian Redman, were waved off as winners.

1982: This is the first 24 hour Daytona international sporting event of the 1982 season happening early in January. The 20th annual 24 hour Pepsi Challenge. The 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Not only a number of Porsche 935’s, but also many other prototypes had been entered for this hotly anticipated race and will be competing. The 73 starters at this event held at the Daytona speed raceway attracted a bumper crowd. Many Thousands of fans made the trek tracked down to the raceway to watch the infamous 24 hour race. The race circuit in total is 2.5 miles long. Watch drivers such as Derek Bell and Bob Garrison racing against the clock and each other on the tough 2.5 mile circuit.

1983: Get ready to be taken back in time to the 1983 edition of the Daytona 24 Hour Race: a full day and night of action-packed racing on the 3.8 mile circuit races. The race served as the opening round of the 1983 IMSA GT Championships. Watch as big name racing teams take each other on, battling day and night, not just on the track but in the pitstops too. Fans, drivers and teams have travelled from all over the World to take part in the first major international sporting event of the year. Sit back and enjoy a few hours of pure quality racing as you experience the thrill watching well-known names such as AJ Foyt, Claude Ballot-Lena, Preston Henn and Bob Wollek as they race the Porsche 935.

1984: The United States is the first major host for the first major 1984 International Sports Caring event. The race served as the opening round of the 1984 IMSA GT Championships. The 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The 22nd running of the Daytona 24 Hour Race has pulled in over 60,000 spectators to soak up the sun and watch some good racing. The excitement is infectious and keeps you on the edge of your seat as 70 entries in total take to the race course, with a star-studded field of competing Ferraris, Jaguars, Mazda’s and, of course, the Porsche. It is the only race in America that goes twice around the clock. Watch the South Africa trio of Graham Duxbury, Tony Martin and Sal Van De Merwe as they dominate the racetrack.
