Car Racing 1970

The sixth volume of the "Car Racing" book series is dedicated to the year 1970. The era of patrons and rich enthusiasts who maintained racing teams at their own expense was coming to an end, while the racing departments of car manufacturers or highly specialised teams were gradually gaining ground.

In this race for professionalisation, the race tracks and the character of the paddocks are also changing. New names emerged at the top of the track, including of course Porsche, which finally succeeded at Le Mans after numerous attempts, Ford in touring cars with its famous Escort, or the very young manufacturer March, the perfect embodiment of English expertise and fighting spirit in motorsport.

The DPPI photo agency, which celebrated its fifth anniversary in 1970, increasingly promoted the nomadism of its photographers and reporters in all corners of the world. In addition to Formula 1, the photographers also travelled to sports car races, rallies, Indianapolis and Daytona.
