Drum roll at the 1978 Paris Motor Show: Renault unveils the incredible R5 Turbo. It should be the starting signal for a successful motorsport career.

In this book, the authors dedicate themselves entirely to the mid-engine car from France. The story begins with the "tame" R5 Alpine Group 2, before the development and road version of the R5 Turbo are shown in detail.

The main part of the book describes the motorsport history of the R5 Turbo and the later Maxi. The book has only short texts and many photos. A highlight are the studio photographs, which show many well preserved R5s - from road cars through to various rally cars to the racing Maxi - in detail.
