Luigi, une vie pour la course

Luigi, the "Wizard of Comblain-au-Pont". This name is very well known in the world of motorsport, not only because of Luigi Cimarosti's numerous victories in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on the Nürburgring, in Silverstone or Monza, as well as in the two-time European Touring Car Championship.
The Luigi team was above all a clan of faithful who were dedicated to success and, if necessary, worked around the clock in the workshop or in the pits at the race tracks. A sworn team in which the motto "never give up" became a leitmotif that aroused the respect and admiration of rivals.
It was also a family united around the boss: his wife Julia, who took care of the reception and catering during the races. His daughters Liliana and Silvia, who were entrusted with various important tasks. Francisco, the brother in the shadows who meticulously took care of the mechanical preparation, and not forgetting Jean Xhenceval, the brother-in-law who was there from the beginning and acted as mechanic, tester and driver. Luigi was popular with everyone, including rival teams, who joined in the festive atmosphere at meals around the team truck.
Driving for Luigi were an impressively large number of veritable champions. They included Hans Stuck, Gunnar Nilsson, Bruno Giacomelli, Lella Lombardi or Reine Wisell. In the Belgian clan, Willy Braillard, Pierre Dieudonné, Claude Dewael or Hugues de Fierlant, to name but a few, celebrated their finest successes at Luigi's in an atmosphere of open comradeship. And of course we must not forget the rally drivers Yves Loubet, Patrick Snijers, Dany Delettre, Gaby Goudezeune and "Chavan" and many others. This book is above all the story of a young man who came from Italy to work in the Belgian mines and gradually built up an enviable reputation as an outstanding tuner.
Eric Faure, who as a journalist witnessed almost the entire career of Luigi Cimarosti at close quarters, tells us here of an extraordinary destiny.
