The Next 60 Years Porsche 911 Design Projekt

Porsche has probably done well to only ever modernise the basic shape of the iconic 911 quite cautiously. The unmistakable design was created six decades ago by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. What will happen to the shape of the 911 in the future is a recurring thought experiment, and quite a few designers are trying their hand at it.

This 680-page book, which is itself a design object, describes how Porsche's design has developed since the brand was founded and how it could continue. It also contains a scientific analysis of the development of the 911 design. Finally, young design students from the University of Applied Sciences in Munich have thought about how to make something out of the heritage of the design language and coming fashions that will allow the 911 to remain a design and success model.

The project was supervised by Othmar Wickenheiser, Professor of Transportation Design at the Faculty of Design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and known, among other things, as an Audi designer. Exciting visions for the sports car design of the future have emerged.
