"Snapshots from Motorsport" is the name of the book by the two renowned French specialist journalists Xavier Chauvin and Michel Morelli. It is a look behind the scenes of motorsport in the "good old days" of the 1970s and 80s. The authors tell a whole series of unusual or amusing anecdotes, most of which are still unknown to the general public.
Behind all the technical overkill of racing are the fates of many men and women - drivers and co-drivers, mechanics and engineers as well as team leaders. The authors pay tribute to them. They show the hidden side of motorsport, the scenery behind the big stage, what viewers don't usually get to see: the mishaps, the breakdowns, the testing and the technical flops - but also the funny moments. All too often, it's just an inconspicuous detail that turns what at first glance seems like a harmless situation into a big laugh - or a disaster. These are exciting memories of a time when it was still possible, or at least seemed possible, to patch up everything that didn't fit with tape and spit.
