The appeal of Walter Röhrl to rally fans around the globe has no age limit. Wherever he appears, he is surrounded by enthusiasts just like in the old days when he won the Monte Carlo Rally four times and was World Rally Champion twice. But his successes in rallying were only one aspect of his career, the German was also a much respected circuit racer. Röhrl mastered the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo as good as the Lancia 037 and he lead the Quattro to success on both the snowy Col de Turini and on race tracks in Europe and North America.
For his latest documentary on the legendary Walter Röhrl, Austrian film-maker Helmut Deimel has delved deep into his magnificent archive to find new material which cannot be seen in his previous films. “Walter Röhrl - Vollgasakrobat” mainly focuses on the action-packed career of the double World Champion, but it also features short interview sections with Walter and a simulated scene of a ride of Röhrl and Riccardo Patrese in a Lancia Stratos which ended in a near-death experience.
